Energy of the Future - A Global Mandate

The greenest energy of all is that which is produced by the body and the mind. All living creatures possess and produce energy of the body and all thinking creatures posses and produce energy of the mind. As far as we know, humans have the greatest capacity to think of all living and thinking creatures. Whether accurate or not, it follows that humans must lead the way in harnessing the energy of the body and mind over all other living and non-living forms in the universe.

Everything in physical existence and in the spaces between physical existence is simply either energy in form or formless energy. All energy continuously flows from one form to another including flowing back and forth between the state of having form and the formless state. The speeds and duration of transformation differ from one form to another, and one formless state to another.

Humans have both body and mind energy. Both of these are among the most natural forms of energy available to the universe, and is more biologically compatible with both the environmental conditions in which we live on this planet, and the conditions that exist in the universe. Body-Mind energy also has a zero carbon footprint beyond the CO2 we breath out and we breath that out anyway.

To create energy for supplying power to cities, towns, and villages, humans use various devices to transform energy from one form (coal, water, wind, solar, nuclear reaction) to another form, electricity. All of these without exception leave a carbon foot print.

The people of the world should work diligently over the next 10 years to perfect the method of creating electricity, or some other form of energy to replace electricity, to power lights, equipment, devices of all kinds, and the various modes of motorised transportation in the cities, towns, villages across the world.

Once this method has been mastered, and is being taught more broadly, the leaders in this field should work diligently for a further 5 years to perfect the method of creating more of this type of energy by, in a synergistic way, tapping into the energy fields of all other living and thinking forms, and later all other living forms (assuming not all living forms think as is currently the popular belief). Further development of these methods will later also allow the creation of energy useful to humans from non-living forms.

The method for tapping into the energy of these thinking, living, and non-living forms must be synergistic so that the creation of the energy useful for human purposes does not destroy or deplete in any way the natural requirements of the form itself, beyond that which would naturally occur in the advancement of the form through its natural life cycle and the advancement of human life.

This is not a campaign to save the planet and convert everyone to green everything. History shows that the planet is darn good at taking care of itself, and no matter what we do, it will adapt, including everybody going green. This is instead a program to serve and further advance mankind and improve the quality of life of all living things. Simply, this is a global mandate to all who feel compelled to contribute to the creation of such an energy transformation ability. Contact me if you feel this is you.

More to follow.

Learning Dutch is a must!

Finally!!! Although if the test is anything like we do in Australia it will be a joke. In Australia the citizenship test is multiple choice, 20 questions and 60% correct is a pass. With those odds you could guess it. If you pass your English language skills are deemed satisfactory. There is no further English test. Frankly if you obtain residency in a country you should either speak the language already or undertake a course to learn the language.

The Pros And Cons Of Beer

One second whilst I put on my asbestos suit to protect from the flames of all the teetotal alcohol-hating blame-the-gun-not-the-person nuts who believe that alcohol is the root of all evil. Right, now I'm ready

Although beer is a drink that contains alcohol, the alcohol alone doesn’t make it dangerous to your health. Drinking beer (or any alcoholic beverage really) excessively is what leads to hangovers, headaches, and the more severe healthy problems. If you drink beer in moderation and avoid getting drunk, you won’t experience any problems with your health (unless you have some genetic mutation).

One of the most common things people say about beer, is that it makes you fat, hence the term “beer belly”. As a whole, beer contains little to no fat, and there are plenty of beer diets out there that you can use to stay thin. The infamous beer belly is caused by consuming too much alcohol, which affects the body’s ability to burn fat. Even though beer can indeed lead to a “beer belly” if you drink too much of it, if you drink in moderation you should be fine.

Even though beer is low in sugar, it can affect your blood sugar levels. Beer contains alcohol, which can drop the natural level of sugar in your blood, leading to low energy levels. If you drink too much beer, you’ll become really tired and go right to sleep. Alcohol in beer will also lower insulin levels as well, which makes it perfect for non diabetics, as it will reduce the risk of arteriosclerosis.

In the past, research has linked beer with reducing the risk for heart disease. Beer contains no cholesterol, although it does have antioxidant qualities that can reduce LDL oxidation, which may help reduce your risk of heart disease. Beer is also an excellent source of fiber, stemming from the malted barley. Beer can also help to reduce stress, if you drink it in moderation.

Now that all said, here is the thing. Many experts believe that to achieve the health benefits that beer provides, you should drink one beer a day and that you shouldn’t drink any more than this, as it can easily lead to health problems. Frankly I'm okay with that so long as my glass is approxiamtely the size of a small bucket; otherwise it is a little rediculous. Seriously, a beer in Australia is 375ml, in Düsseldorf, Germany it is 250ml, 300 ml, or 500ml depending upon teh type of beer you drink, in Munich, Germany it is at least 500ml and more typically a litre (those Müncheners have a lot of horse sense about them in my book). So drinking just one beer a day based on Australian standards might not actually give you the full benefits if you should be drinking the Munich standard size.

Alcohol will thin out your blood, which will protect your heart and reduce the risk of strokes as well. In the past, research has even shown moderate consumption of alcohol can help with improving your memory as well. Then again, if you drink it excessively, it can destroy brain cells - the adverse effect.

Beer is also nutritious, although it can destroy your levels of vitamin C as well. Beer is a great source of fiber, as well as other minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, and several B vitamins such as B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, and B12. Beer contains high levels of these vitamins, along with other minerals that are actually good for your body. Although it offers plenty of B vitamins and other minerals your body needs, it will also destroy your vitamin C - which is why you never want to drink too much of it. Either that or pop a few bioactive vitamins afterwards or eat lots of Vitamin C rich foods.

When it all comes down to it, beer may contain over 95% water, yet it is still a diuretic. Due to the fact that beer contains alcohol, it will always be a diuretic. When you drink beer, you should avoid drinking too much and never, ever, drink beer instead of water. Beer can dehydrate your body fairly quickly, which is one of the biggest cons to drinking beer. Although beer does have several health benefits, they can easily be hindered by drinking too much. To stay on the safe side and avoid headaches and other health effects of beer, you should always drink responsibly, never drink too much - and always drink a few glasses of water when you are drinking beer. That way you can drink more beer.

I hope that you have found this interesting. If you are in my neck of the woods, let's hook up and blow the froth off a few cold ones together. Of course any time before or after that, just click the button below to buy me a beer and I will drink to both of our good health until such time as we can raise a glass or two together.

Warmest regards,
Paul

All About German Beer

Throughout Germany beer is definitely an integral part of the culture. Germany contains well over 1,000 breweries, which is more than any other country in the world. All beer that is manufactured in Germany must follow the purity law (originally the 'Reinheitsgebot'), which lets manufacturers know what ingredients can and can’t be used. Basically, the only ingredients allowed to make beer in Germany are water, hops, and barley malt. The Reinheitsgebot is no longer part of German law: it has been replaced by the Provisional German Beer Law (Vorläufiges Deutsches Biergesetz (Provisional German Beer-law of 1993)), which allows constituent components prohibited in the Reinheitsgebot, such as wheat malt and cane sugar, but which no longer allows unmalted barley.

Note that no yeast was mentioned in the original text of the Reinheitsgebot. It was not until the 1800s that Louis Pasteur discovered the role of micro-organisms in the process of fermentation; therefore, yeast was not known to be an ingredient of beer. Brewers generally took some sediment from the previous fermentation and added it to the next, the sediment generally containing the necessary organisms to perform fermentation; kind of like sourdough bread. If no sediment were available, they would set up a number of vats, relying on natural yeast to inoculate the brew.

History aside, due to the strict purity requirements, you can easily recognise German beers by their overall level of quality. They have a distinct taste, with little to no after-taste. Some styles of German ale include Kölsch, Weizen, and Altbier. Some types of German lagers include Bock, Pilsener, Dunkel, Helles, and Märzen. Keep in mind that the taste, aroma, and colour varies widely, although with little to no practice, all can be identified as being true German beers. But why avoid the practice and deny yourself the fun of becoming better acquainted with some of the world's finest beers.

The German beer Altbier is a very common dark ale, that is top fermented in the Rhein regions of Germany. The beer proposes a yellow colour, with a taste that is rich in hops. Another ale, Rauchbier, is known to have a smoky flavour with a smoked colour. These beers taste great, and are very popular throughout the regions in which they are brewed. Having lived ca 9 years in Düsseldorf, considered the Paris of Germany and the undisputed Mecca of Altbier, I can highly recommend the Altbier from the Schumacher, Füchschen, and Uerige breweries. During WWII, the beers from these three breweries were prescribed by physicians for a range of ailments, and to this day the beers are still considered medicinal. In fact I have an interesting story about my late grandfather when he came to visit during the late 80's. ... but that is for another time.

German lagers are also very popular, and are very popular in other areas of the world as well. Pilsener is one of the most popular and most familiar of all German beers (although not originally from Germany), providing you with more hops and less malt. More recently the German wheat beers (Weissbier) in both the regular and dark varieties are growing in popularity around the world. Personally my favourite is Paulaner Dunkel Weissbier .... that said, all modesty aside my home brew Dunkel Weissbier is many times better again. :-)

Throughout Germany, and after considerable consolidation, there are several different companies, producing over 4,000 different brands of beers. Some of the more well known and larger companies of north Germany are Beck, St. Pauli, Warsteiner, and Krombach. In the southern region of Germany, there are more breweries, although most of them are smaller, as they are locally owned and operated. Exceptions are the world famous Löwenbräu, Hofbräu, Spaten, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, and possibly Augistiner. Southern Germany also contains the Benedictine Abbey, which is one of the oldest breweries in the world. This brewery started producing beer in 1040 - very impressive indeed!

Germany is also home to Oktoberfest, which is held every year in Munich. Oktoberfest starts in late September and carries on for ca. three weeks, ending in early October. During Oktoberfest, beer drinkers from all over the world will travel to Germany and celebrate German beers ... funny how it started out as a wedding celebration though!! Each and every year, over 5 million people attend the event, making it one of the biggest beer celebrations in the world. I guess weddings are simply not as popular as drinking beer these days.

During Oktoberfest, local breweries in Munich are the only breweries allowed to serve beer in the bigger tents. There are six breweries in total, producing a variety of different beers, and all produce a special Oktoberfestbier that is generally richer in flavour and stronger in alcohol than they their regular brew. By attending this yearly event, you can learn more about German beer, sample the different varieties, and enjoy the rich bold flavours that make German beer so very popular.

Due to the success of Oktoberfest each and every year, other cities around the world try and mimic this event. Even though they have success, their level of success isn’t near as much as the original Oktoberfest - Germany. German beers are very popular around the world, with Oktoberfest helping to prove that very claim. If you drink beer but have never experienced what beers from Germany have to offer, you really should give them a try. At the risk of starting an online world war, I would say that once you do, you’ll quickly realise why German beers are so very popular - and why the taste simply can’t be duplicated with any other beer.

I hope that you have found this interesting. If you are in my neck of the woods, let's hook up and blow the froth off a few cold ones together. Of course any time before or after that, just click the button below to buy me a beer and I will drink to both of our good health until such time as we can raise a glass or two together.

Paul

Attraction Marketer's Manifesto

This is shocking.

Imagine taking a woman's stocking and shoving junk food into it... in front of large groups of people.

Then, almost like you pushed a secret button, those people start buying just about whatever you offer them.

They even start asking you for advice on what to buy, and then they follow your advice to the letter.

That's just one of the mind-boggling parts of Ann Sieg's stunning new report, "The Attraction Marketer's Manifesto."

You know, one of Ann's biggest contributions to the word-of-mouth marketing industry was exposing the lie that grunt work (cold calling and randomly prospecting strangers) would ever produce any profitable results. This is the sort of stuff that has led to many misconception ... and many real perceptions of the most powerful form of marketing there is.

But now Ann has taken her message further. Much further.

She shows how anyone - and I do mean anyone - can use Attraction Marketing to build an automatic online recruiting and selling machine. For low cost or not cost at all.

Here's what's even better, what Ann shows is how this kind of Attraction Marketing is easily able to be duplicated on the Internet.

If you've been looking for specifics and proof about Attraction Marketing, this report will show you things you've never seen before.

It will also help you overcome information overload and open up possibilities you may have never imagined.

And it will give you the road map to fulfil the promise of creating additional continuing income streams ... and it even goes further than that!

Well, you'll have to see for yourself. Fortunately this report is free, and you can download your own personal copy in a matter of minutes.

Just go to http://minmin.marketersmanifesto.com/

Warmest regards,

Paul

Tools for Google Adsense

If you're just jumping onboard the AdSense train, and looking to find a quick way to make the profits you've seen being boasted about all over the Internet, you might be interested in checking out a couple of these tools.

These solutions are designed to aid AdSense publishers in achieving a better understanding of how traffic flows through their site. Some will most edfinitely help you in understanding which keywords gain you more money, and which locations give you the best AdSense payment.

One of the best tools available is AdSense Gold (http://www.profitbooks.com/go/astracker). AdSense Gold allows you to have a better understanding of which ads and formats actually receive more clicks and which of them are useful or nearly useless.

This program works by tracking views and clicks on all of the publisher's pages. It even goes as far as offering you the possibility to see through which referrer each of your visitors came to your site.

There's also a free tool called SynSense (http://www.singerscreations.com/SysSense.asp). SynSenseis more of an AdSense monitoring tool. This sits in the tray and offers actualized AdSense stats as you hover your mouse over the icon. It's a very nice tool for those who like to be informed on how their AdSense is doing at all times of the day. Hmmmmmmm, grab a coffee and buy the read the 'Four Hour Workweek' instead I would say. Nonetheless a good tool. :-)

Google provides you with stats in a CSV format on their site. So someone made a tool that can automatically download the Google CSV files and extract a lot of information from them. The name of this tool is CSV AdStats and it is available from http://www.nix.fr/en/csvadstats.aspx?q=download

CSV AdStats has a large number of features, including the possibility to highly customise reported stats, exporting data, and it charts to other formats. It's in French but the language can very easily be changed to English.

Of course the maximum frequency any tool can access these stats is 15 minutes, but the authors are well aware of this fact, and none of these tools will land you in trouble with Google because of it.

If, however, you're browsing content most of the time, and your tool of choice is the Firefox Internet browser, there's an extension for this program that allows you to view the stats in your status bar.

Again, this software is aware of Google's 15 minute rule and enforces its usage, 15 minutes being the minimum time between updates. The Google AdSense notifier for Firefox can be obtained from http://code.mincus.com/?p=3

There is also a program called Golden Keywords out there that helps you in identifying the best keywords for your site. It's really efficient and very easy to use. It does come with a price tag though, it costs $49.95 and it can be obtained from http://www.brothersoft.com/golden-keywords-19136.html

So as you can see, software developers are making more and more programs meant to help you in your quest to maximize your AdSense profits. But before you go out looking for them remember that Google has a few features of its own as well.

It does offer some reports (albeit a bit more limited) and using the 'channels' feature is a good way of finding out which ads on your site are really bringing in most of the revenue.

Be on the look out as new tools appear daily and make sure to invest time in your site, as that is the real key in success with AdSense.

I also have an eBook "Adsense - The Dollar Producing Factory" that you can check out here.

Hope this was helpful.

Warmest regards,
Paul

Overqualified Myth Busted!

Have you ever padded your resume and exaggerated accomplishments to get a higher position? How about reading other peoples resumes and thinking “as long as my proverbial points groundwards, there is no way on this earth that person did half of what they are claiming!”.

Nowadays, it is becoming more and more the norm for job applicants to de-emphasise or even omit completely some of their skills, experience, and leadership qualities so that they might secure a lower grade position.

Irrespective of the reasons you have decided to downsize your career, whether simply to achieve more free time, or improved work life balance, or perhaps the market is not exactly begging for people with your skill set to walk through the door, being classified as “overqualified” is more terrifying for many than are the perceived consequences of not landing a new role.

Being labelled “overqualified" generally means that the prospective employer, more often specifically the one hiring you, has two major concerns around which other excuses (often expressed as ‘concerns’) are created:

Major concern #1:
You will make me look inept and undermine my authority.

This has everything to do with the other person, and nothing to do with you. If they feel threatened by your skills and experience, then they should look for another job. Throughout my career I have often been in the position of having to hire people, either for a project, program, interim engagement, and sometimes even as a replacement. In all of these instances I found it more beneficial to hire a person who I considered superior in skills and experience than myself. The result was always that the client benefited and I was considered skilled and adept by the people who mattered when it came to payday and repeat, respectively referral business. Good leaders always ‘hire up’!

That said, the person you are interviewing with is the gatekeeper and unless you make them feel comfortable with you, they have the ability to undermine your application and you will never really know why you were passed over. If this is the person you are going to be reporting to, you need to ask yourself whether you want to report to a person who is so insecure in their leadership role. I suspect, if you are worth every penny you used to earn, you will not be satisfied and then some of the excuses (listed below) may become reality. If this person is simply a gatekeeper to the real direct report, you may wish to persevere and some of the tips below will help you to soothe their insecurities.

Major concern #2:
You will leave as soon as something better comes along.

Too damn right! If you have compromised your integrity just to land a job; if you have subordinated your real wants and needs simply to secure a new pay cheque; if the company has not fully sold you on why YOU should want to work there, and if the company has not created an environment that inspires you to give your absolute best all of the time, then these are reasons why when something more attractive (and that is not always simply more money) comes along you may jump ship faster than you can say ‘adios’.

Let’s be honest, if you are as good your ‘real CV’ demonstrates that you are, then the company should be bending over backwards to have you WANT to take the job. However there in lies the clue. Is your CV real, or have you padded it, or have you played it down? Good interviewers will smell a rat, either way, during the interview. For the greater majority of interviewers though, they will realise their mistake after they let you slip through and your actions give you away.

Both major concerns are directly related to fear in some form, and can cause the person to come up with excuses as to why you are not suitable. Here are a couple you have probably heard already:

Excuse #1 - You will be a know-it-all
(This could be a genuine reason, and if it is, to know who is to blame take a good long look in the mirror)

Excuse #2 - You won't be satisfied with the salary.

Excuse #3 - You will be bored and under-challenged.

Excuse #4 - You don’t fit into the team because of your age or experience.

Excuse #5 - You don’t fit the corporate culture.

(This could be a genuine reason – but rarely is – and can rarely be assessed before an interview.)

Whether you like it or not, you are in the business of selling yourself, and objections are often the result of unasked questions. The more questions you ask the more you will uncover any objections before they are expressed, and have an opportunity to convert them to reasons why the person wants to hire you. Through this process, you will also discover qualities of the person interviewing you that will allow you to determine whether you are interested in working for this company.

I mean, come on! There has to be more than just a pay cheque at the end of it to cause you to want to invest your time in improving the company’s bottom line. So ask better questions during the interview process, and you can avoid most objections outright.

So how should you handle objections if they do arise?

Some suggest avoiding them altogether by amending your resume to fit the job description. This can be a legitimate thing to do provided the amendments are designed to highlight the areas of your skills and experience that will benefit and add value to the company and enable you to more effectively execute the role for which you are applying. Simply ‘dumbing down’ or sanitising your CV is as bad as exaggerating your profile and embellishing your CV. Both are misrepresenting you

If it comes out later that you misrepresented or omitted a large part of your employment history, you could appear lacking in honesty and integrity. Consequently, when a more senior role opens up in the organization, you may have be passed over or at least have a more difficult time persuading management to place their trust in you if it appears that you were not truthful in your original application. This is not rocket science, you would do the same thing in their position!! If you have ever been in a management or a leadership position you know this to be true.

Rather than hide your qualifications, show why you are a perfect fit. In your cover letter and interview give reasons why you're enthusiastic about the position, and why you are undaunted by the drop in salary. Explain why you would be a motivated worker, and point out your added value, why the company would benefit by hiring you.

Some executive recruiters recommend that you avoid sending a resume all together. Instead, go directly to the person with authority to hire you through your network of business and social contacts. Remember that more often than not, weak ties will be more effective in helping you secure a role than close friends, families and former colleagues or associates. The best case scenario is to have someone within the company recommend you.

If you are told point-blank at the interview that you are overqualified, uncover their real objections by suggesting some concerns they may have with regard to a particular area of your CV, or by asking questions comparing yourself to other candidates. Again, this is a tactic best deployed prior to hearing the objection, however if it comes up, you have only to gain by asking the questions and gaining insight and clarity.

If they tell you point-blank, you ask them point-blank what concerns they have. Then, depending on what their objections are, do the following:

  • Make money a non-issue. Make it clear that you are flexible and doing what you love is higher on your values than a nominal cut in pay.
  • Sell the financial advantages of investing in you and use examples to demonstrate how your expertise, efficiency, and effectiveness would cut costs and/or increase revenues.
  • Demonstrate your expert and unparalleled knowledge. Show you are in touch with the current professional environment, and how you constantly engage in higher learning and personal development.
  • Show you're a team player. Make it clear you excel in developing mutual expectations, that you have a proven ability to inspire cooperation and confidence in others so that they achieve their fullest potential.
  • Offer to sign a one- or two-year contract if the role is a permanent one, or agree to a penalty clause if the role is contract based. If they're worried you will leave if something better comes along, allay their fears by offering to make your commitment binding.
  • Show respect and enthusiasm. Convey that you are truly interested in working for the company, genuinely desire to execute the responsibilities of the position, and sincerely look forward to working with the person to whom you will be reporting, stating reasons.

In every case, have an articulate pitch about why your experience, skills, interest in the company and passion for the work itself make you perfect for the position.
